Removing the Stain of Guantanamo

Recent court rulings and President Obama's executive orders offer hope that, after over seven years of incarceration and abuse, the prisoners at Guantanamo will see a just resolution to their cases. Despite positive signs, 240 prisoners remain incarcerated and great challenges lie ahead in resolving the issues surrounding Guantanamo.

Seattle attorney David Marshall has represented Guantanamo prisoners since 2006. He and his co-presenter, attorney Gail Pruitt, will speak on Thursday, April 30 at Traditions Café and World Art, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, about the prisoners, recent developments on Guantanamo, the challenges and work ahead and how citizens can become involved. For directions go here.

David Marshall has practiced law 27 years. When not volunteering his services to Guantanamo prisoners, he handles child abuse cases–both defense of persons accused of child abuse and representation of persons who have been abused. Gail Pruitt, an Evergreen State College graduate, is an associate with a Tacoma law firm. She has been working with Mr. Marshall on his Guantanamo cases since March 2008
