Proof Standards Vary Among Child Protection Offices in Washington State
A study on taping investigative interviews in child sex abuse cases has turned up varying standards of proof among offices of Washington State's Division of Children and Family Services. The Eastside office in King County did not have a single confirmed case of sexual abuse during the study period, suggesting that it uses a higher standard of proof than other offices use.
The study report, Child Sexual Abuse Investigations: Testing Documentation Methods, may be found here. This finding appears at page 15.
